Covent Garden is the perfect expression of London’s glamorous side. With its sparkling mix of theatres and luxury boutiques and its world-famous street performers and magicians, it is a truly fascinating area. Full of secret alleyways, independent cafes & quirky street furniture, it is an ever-surprising part of London, and has been one of my personal favourites since my first visit to London almost 20 years ago! It will therefore be my pleasure to walk you through some of Covent Garden’s secrets and tell you about its rich history, most of which is linked with performing arts and the theatre.

Entrance to the market.

Indeed, Covent Garden is also the home of the Royal Opera House and stands at the heart of London’s “West End”, or “TheatreLand”, so I will tell you tales of theatres and actors through the centuries whilst walking you through this vibrant area.

View from Waterloo Bridge.

After a little break to let you take advantage of the many joys Covent Garden has to offer, we will cross Waterloo Bridge (said to offer the best views of London), walk past the imposing National Theatre and continue along the Southbank towards the Globe Theatre, a beautiful thatched-roof reconstruction of Shakespeare’s 16th century playhouse. We will end the tour there, just in time for lunch.**

*This is a sample route, I will of course adapt the tour to your own personal needs and interests.

**I can arrange to pre-book a table for your group at a convenient pub or restaurant.

"I went on Jennifer’s Magic London walking tour and it was - well, Magic! Such an interesting and amusing guide with a fund of wonderful stories which Jennifer told in a fascinating and entertaining way. And if this wasn’t enough - Jennifer included practical magic as part of the walk. Her skill as a magician was amazing and the magic was woven into the tour. We learnt so much about Houdini and Victorian magicians such as Nevil Maskelyne , and even Paul Daniels - visiting the very sites where they performed. I’m still scratching my head trying to think how the magic tricks were carried out!!! This is a wonderful walk for both adults and children. Spellbinding! Martin"
